A hidden gem in the Eastern Cape surrounded by game reserves and beautiful scenery, Addo Reach offers wonderful bird life, peace and serenity with the bonus of being a short and scenic drive to some of South Africa’s most amazing national parks including the famous Addo Elephant Park.
Our Space
Addo Reach is set in a small village with easy access from the N10 and N2 in the Eastern Cape. Crime and malaria free, with none of the trappings of a hectic life, you’ll find great views, stars in bright clear skies, a welcoming local community and plenty of time to read, paint, write and feel at home.
Your hosts, life partners, John Bateson (retired engineer, sports fanatic and great joke teller 😊) and Eli Konstant (a local community “activist” who enjoys meeting new folk and handing out loads of TLC) look forward to your company. Enjoy Bed and Breakfast, Self Catering, Camping or any combination thereof.
Your Space
Our home is your home and we do all we can to make sure you feel that way. We offer B&B and self-catering in Hein’s Cottage which sleeps 2 adults comfortably, four at a big pinch, while inside the main house, the well-appointed rooms have their own access, giving you the freedom to come and go as you please.
All rooms have en suite bathrooms. Our rate includes complimentary tea, coffee, hospitality toiletries and full servicing of your room on each day of your stay. Breakfast, light lunch, picnic basket and dinner options are available on request. To ensure we can provide everything you need, please let us know your catering needs (including food allergies and preferences) when you book.
The Neighbourhood
We believe it to be unique, being away from the madding crowd and offering insights into the real rural South African way of life, with the benefit of being within reach of places of environmental and historical interest. Peace and quiet, the opportunity to relax and enjoy a respite from what could possibly be a very busy travel schedule.
For those more energetic folk… there are plenty of excellent opportunities for mountain biking, hiking and cross-country jogging. The golf course is closed at the moment, but watch this space because HUGE effort is being put into design changes to offer a broader family experience.
Helping you get out and about
We are here to help you to organise car hire from the airport if necessary, pack a picnic for your visit to Addo, book game drives etc.
Being in a scenic valley, we are Wi-Fi challenged! As a result, the internet in the house isn’t readily available, but our guests seem to manage access based on their own cell contract. Even better, you can take a tech holiday and enjoy an evening by the braai, chatting with neighbours and friends which will bring forth lots of ideas of peaceful and interesting things to do.
